A Timely Tidbit For Raising Children With Spiritual Values:

I would like you to consider the wisdom of a three year old this month. Our granddaughter is concerned with the state of her heart. She continually asks the family to feel her heart. "Is it a good heart, Nina? She asks. "Of course, Bug. It's a very good heart." is the reply.  And off she flies, often to return with the same question.  As I pondered on the why of her question, I realized the great wisdom she possesses. We should be concerned about the state of our heart.   Our concern should be with the state of our spiritual heart.

Is my heart truly a good heart? What causes my heart to race with excitement? Spending time with God or going shopping? Is it a strong heart? A heart that isn't afraid to live boldly and openly for Jesus. Can others see or feel my heart strength?  A heart that lives for others and God's kingdom.

I hope that you and yours will examine the state of your heart. Talk to your children about how God desires that we guard our hearts as it is the very wellspring of life.  Examine what they value, for Jesus tells us that where our treasure is so too is our heart.

"Do I have a good heart, Lord?" My hope is that we may all hear "Yes, my child. You have a very good heart indeed."
